VARIETY OF WAYS
- Words, are one of the ways using words to describe the values.
Here for example, the first one would be "all real numbers more than 2" the second one would be "all real numbers more than 2, inclusive"
- Number lines, gives a picture or graph of the values ( solid circles indicates that the point is included. The open circle indicates that the value is not included. An arrow pointing in the right and left indicates that there is no limit in the value.)
- A list, is used to give domain and range for discrete data. ( for example, the ponits, (0,1) (2,3) (4,5) (6,7) can be expressed as domain=0,2,4,6, range=1,3,5,7)
- Set notation, is a more formal way to show the values of domain and range. (R=real numbers, Q=irrational numbers, I=integers, N=nature numbers, W=whole numbers.)
PURPOSE OF DOMAIN AND RANGE
- domain and range are two quantities used to describ values of graphs.
- values of domain are plotted on the horizontal axis (X-axis)
- values of range are plottled on the vertical axis (Y-axis)
